The Position:
Gruber Custom Homes is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the on-site execution of architecturally driven, high-end custom homes. This role is responsible for controlling all field aspects of the construction process from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, on budget, and to Gruber’s high standards of craftsmanship and professionalism. The Superintendent plays a critical role in translating architectural intent into exceptional built results while maintaining a well-organized, show-ready jobsite and a positive construction experience for clients, architects, designers, and trade partners.
Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Quality
- Lead all on-site construction activities from pre-construction through closeout, coordinating subcontractors, materials, inspections, and schedules to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget, and in alignment with architectural plans and design intent.
- Maintain Gruber’s standards for world-class craftsmanship through proactive quality control, clean and show-ready jobsites, and timely correction of deficient work.
Architectural Coordination & Documentation
- Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and Project Managers to manage RFIs, plan clarifications, change orders, and field documentation, ensuring expectations are aligned and design intent is fully executed.
- Capture, document, and communicate scope changes, back charges, and constructability impacts prior to execution.
Client Experience & Communication
- Serve as a primary on-site point of contact for clients, leading regular OAC meetings, providing schedule updates, and delivering consistent project status reporting.
- Address client questions and concerns promptly and ensure a professional, respectful experience across all subcontractors and stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Set clear weekly goals and expectations with subcontractors, track progress, and foster accountability, trust, and collaboration on site.
- Support internal team development by mentoring junior superintendents and reinforcing Gruber’s values and standards.
Administrative & Systems Management
- Maintain accurate schedules, daily logs, photos, time tracking, and reporting within Buildertrend and related systems.
- Review subcontractor and supplier invoices for scope completion and quality prior to payment and assist with change order pricing and documentation.
Qualifications:

5+ years of residential construction experience, preferably in custom or high-end homes
- Prior experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Lead Carpenter
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and details
- Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or design-related background strongly preferred
- Experience working directly with architects, designers, and homeowners
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using construction management software (Buildertrend, Bluebeam, or similar)
