The Position:
The Youth Ministry Director leads the Youth Ministry Department within the Family Life Zone. This position oversees both Middle School and High School Ministries and is responsible for cultivating environments where teenagers encounter Jesus Christ in a real, transformative way. This leader has a deep passion for discipling students, equipping leaders, and helping youth grow in faith, character, and purpose.
This role provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all youth ministry programming, staff, and volunteers, while fostering meaningful relationships with students and their families. The Youth Ministry Director reports to the Family Life Zone Director. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), exempt (salaried), department leader-level position with benefits.
Responsibilities:
Department Leadership:
- Provide vision, leadership, and resources for an effective, Christ-centered Youth Ministry aligned with the overall Ministry Plan of Colorado Community Church.
- Develop and execute an annual Strategic Plan for the Youth Ministry Department.
- Develop a fiscally responsible annual budget and ensure the ministry operates within its confines.
Youth Ministry Staff & Volunteer Oversight:
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to paid youth ministry staff.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd a strong team of youth ministry volunteers.
- Ensure all volunteers are properly screened and trained to ensure safety and accountability.
- Equip and empower students to serve as servant leaders within the ministry.
Program Development:
- Prepare, lead, and teach during midweek youth programming.
- Oversee teaching and programming for weekend youth services.
- Provide leadership and oversight for a Student Leadership Program.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead ministry events including retreats, service projects, mission trips, camps, and special activities.
- Encourage and support students and staff connected to local school campuses.
- Collaborate with other ministries within the church and, as God leads, help “grow fruit on other’s trees.”
General Shepherding:
- Provide spiritual direction, care, and counsel to Middle School and High School students.
- Build meaningful relationships with families within the youth ministry, offering spiritual guidance and support as needed.
- Promote intergenerational relationships and help integrate youth into the broader church community.
- Participate in hospital visits, weekend worship services, and other church events as requested.
Schedule: Must be available to work Wednesday evenings and regularly on Saturdays and Sundays, including 5th weekend services and special holiday services.
Office Hours: Establish and maintain regular office hours as much as possible.
Meetings: Attend all required staff meetings and retreats (Weekly “Devos & Prayer,” Monthly All Staff Meetings, Annual Retreat, etc.).
Qualifications:
Character:
- A Christ-honoring life marked by personal holiness, prayer, Bible study, spiritual and emotional maturity, and increasing dependence on the Holy Spirit (Titus 1:6–9, 1 Timothy 3:1–7).
- Unquestionable integrity, particularly in handling finances, relationships, and time management.
- A servant-hearted leader who is eager, flexible, and teachable.
Competency:
- Pastoral gifting with strong leadership and teaching abilities.
- Proven experience in team building, equipping, and training leaders with a missional focus.
- Broad understanding of adolescent development and the unique needs of teenagers.
- Strong relational and communication skills with people of all ages.
- Comfortable working in interdenominational environments.
- Takes initiative in personal and professional growth.
- Bible college degree preferred; equivalent ministry experience accepted.
- Solid computer skills with MS Office Suite.
- Willingness and ability to learn and effectively use the church database system.
