The Position
Wellspring is seeking a full-time Discipleship Pastor to equip and pastor the congregation as they grow in Christ by “walking in Christ with one another for the sake of others.” This is a highly relational and strategic leadership role focused on creating clear and compelling pathways for spiritual formation, connection, and maturity.
The Discipleship Pastor will oversee the full Discipleship Pathway, help cultivate belonging in the church body, and equip people to grow as disciple-makers. This position reports to the Executive Pastor of Ministry and serves as part of the Ministry Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
Oversee Discipleship Pathway:
- Ensure ongoing next steps for spiritual growth through the full Discipleship Pathway (Sunday Worship → Serving → Alpha → Discovery Class → Discipleship Groups → Catechism → Disciple-Making)
- Partner with the Mission Pastor on Alpha
- Oversee Discipleship Groups across the church
- Supervise the Adult Formation Assistant Director
- Lead and support the Men’s and Women’s Discipleship Leadership Teams
- Oversee Catechism classes and Confirmation
- Develop curriculum for classes and Formation Labs, raising up teachers and leaders
- Equip the congregation in evangelism and disciple-making
Cultivate Belonging:
- Oversee recruitment, training, and deployment of Sunday Morning Hospitality Volunteers
- Lead Neighborhood Connecting Dinners and help transition them toward deeper community on mission
- Manage the Connecting Workflow and support follow-up with new attendees
- Supervise the Community Life Administrator
Pastoral Leadership:
- Be a welcoming pastoral presence on Sundays and during special services
- Provide pastoral care, including baptisms (if ordained), weddings, funerals, and counseling
- Preach occasionally if gifted and called
Ministry Team Leadership:
- Participate in Ministry Lead meetings, strategic planning, and vision-setting for the church
- Manage staff and ministry budgets related to discipleship
- Mentor emerging leaders through the 3 Streams Institute
Requirements
- A mature and growing disciple of Jesus, marked by:
- Grounding in the Gospel
- Life in the Holy Spirit
- Formation through the liturgy
- 5+ years of church ministry experience, including leadership of programs and teams
- Master of Divinity or Theology from an accredited seminary (preferred)
- Ordained Anglican clergy (preferred)
- Proven ability to design and lead discipleship strategies and curriculum
- Strong background in pastoral care and leadership development
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Emotionally healthy, self-aware, and team-oriented
Salary + Benefits
- Salary: $90,000–$95,000
