The Position:
The Refrigeration Manager is responsible for overseeing and participating in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including managing technicians, coordinating projects, ensuring safety compliance, controlling costs, and maintaining high service standards. The manager actively works alongside the team while providing guidance, training, and operational support. This position has been identified as holding responsibility for food safety and quality of the company, which extends over all shifts. During absence, the Director Operations serves as coverage to this position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and train refrigeration technicians and apprentices on technical skills and safety procedures.
- Perform hands-on installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance programs (establishes PM's) by working closely with the CMMS coordinator.
- Troubleshoot complex refrigeration system issues, providing technical support while gathering and analyzing information skillfully.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, actively promoting and personally observing safety, security, and environmental policies.
- Manage work orders, service schedules, labor allocation, and project timelines while assisting with budgeting and cost control.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal departments, promptly managing difficult situations and needs.
- Monitor inventory levels and order equipment, parts, and supplies as needed.
- Conduct quality inspections, demonstrating accuracy, thoroughness, and ensuring work meets industry standards.
- Produce significant output with minimal waste, operating with the highest of standards and ensuring important details do not slip through the cracks.
- Act proactively, generating innovative approaches to problems, and adjusting quickly to changing priorities or unexpected events.
- Ethically behave at the highest level, living up to verbal and written agreements, and earning the highest level of trust.
- Speak and write clearly and articulately in all forms of communications.
- Respond to emergency service calls and critical equipment failures (On call 24/7).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in ammonia refrigeration.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of refrigeration controls, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related equipment.
- EPA certification and other applicable licenses or certifications.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform physical work in a hands-on management role.

Salary + Benefits:
$100,000 - $140,000
