The Organization:

Since 2011, Dream Centers, a faith-based nonprofit, has provided health and hope to those rebuilding their dreams. Dream Centers includes a Women’s Clinic offering medical care, professional counseling, and a full suite of wrap-around services. Our second program, Mary’s Home, is a multi-year program offering trauma-informed care, life-skills training, education, job development, and positive role modeling in a high-challenge, high-support environment for single-mother families experiencing homelessness. Our newest initiative, Big Dream Early Learning, is an innovative early learning center that helps children from birth to age six bridge the gap between early childhood trauma and the hopeful future they deserve. Our holistic approach is designed to heal from the inside out, empowering women and children to rebuild their dreams and exit homelessness permanently.

The Position:

Working closely with internal teams and external marketing partners, this role will manage the development and distribution of written, visual, and digital content that reflects the heart and mission of Dream Centers. The Communications and Storytelling Manager helps ensure that every piece of communication, whether an email, social media post, newsletter, campaign story, or video, conveys hope, excellence, and authenticity. The ideal candidate is both creative and strategic, able to move easily between big-picture messaging and detailed content execution. They thrive in a collaborative environment, are energized by sharing stories that matter, and take joy in connecting people to a mission that changes lives.

Responsibilities:

 1. Storytelling & Content Strategy

  • Narrative Development: Identify and capture compelling "stories of transformation" from program staff, ensuring they honor participant dignity while inspiring donor generosity.
  • Multimedia Production: Collaborate on the creation of high-quality written, visual, and digital content, including newsletters, campaign materials, and video/multimedia initiatives (YouTube, podcasts, etc.).
  • Content Adaptation: Masterfully repurpose long-form stories into multi-platform assets (reels, clips, and email integrations) to maximize reach and engagement.

2. Strategic Communications & Brand Voice

  • Brand Stewardship: Serve as the "voice" of Dream Centers, ensuring all communications—from social media to board presentations—reflect our mission of hope and excellence.
  • Advancement Alignment: Collaborate with the Director of Community Engagement and the Advancement team to align messaging with fundraising goals, donor campaigns, and major milestones.
  • Digital Presence: Develop and implement a content plan that reflects the voice and mission of Dream Centers across all communication channels.

3. Project Management & Analysis

  • Workflow Coordination: Manage the end-to-end production process, including content calendars, internal team collaboration, and relationships with external creative vendors (photographers/videographers).
  • Asset Management: Organize and maintain a comprehensive library of photos, stories, and branded assets to support ongoing marketing needs.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze engagement metrics across all platforms (web, email, social) to evaluate effectiveness and recommend data-driven growth strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, content creation, or brand management, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Exceptional storytelling and writing ability, with a proven track record of crafting compelling narratives that drive engagement across social media, email, and digital campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience with video/podcast production workflows, YouTube optimization, and digital tools
  • Ability to manage end-to-end content lifecycles, from big-picture strategy to detailed execution, while coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to capture stories of transformation with a trauma-informed lens
  • A professional, relational, and team-oriented approach with a high degree of initiative and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A deep heart for the mission of Dream Centers and a mature, active Christian faith.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $23-27/hour
  • Full Time: 40 hours per week
  • Some hybrid flexibility; includes evenings and weekends, dependent on event schedule
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance. We cover 80% of the premiums, regardless of family makeup.
  • 4 weeks' PTO
  • Retirement savings: 1% automatic contribution for all full-time employees, 100% matching employee contribution up to 2% of salary.
  • Around 18 paid holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Years)
  • 1 "soul care" day a month
