The Organization:
Kigali International Community School (KICS) is a missional, Christ-Centered, U.S.-accredited, non-profit school that offers children of all nationalities and religions an education similar to that offered by schools in the U.S. We are a fully accredited member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA). We are endorsed by the Rwandan Ministry of Education as a sound educational institution. KICS is also a full member of the Council for Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA), currently the first and only school to achieve this outside the US.
The school is a college preparatory day school offering classes for students from preschool through high school. KICS opened with its first class on September 14, 2006. Today, KICS has more than 320 students from over 25 nations. The student body includes expatriate and national families living and working in Kigali in various industries. Many families work with embassies, NGOs, mission agencies, churches, and private businesses.
KICS’ vision is to impact the world for Christ by preparing servant leaders who choose character before career, wisdom beyond scholarship, service above self, and a lifestyle of participation over apathy.
Located in Rwanda, a country that has set clear and challenging goals for its future development and is growing in its influence across the region, KICS is positioned to play an increasingly important role in supporting these aspirations through nurturing the servant leaders required to make this a reality.
The Position:
Building upon the solid foundation and good work underway at KICS, the new Head of School will have the opportunity to provide strong visionary, spiritual, and strategic leadership, by articulating the school’s guiding principles, promoting its vision and value proposition, and by inspiring, encouraging, and caring for the students, faculty, staff, families, and friends that encompass the entire KICS community.
The Head of School is responsible for overseeing the operations of the school and providing spiritual, educational, and administrative leadership to the school. It is the job of the Head of School to inspire, lead, and direct all phases of the school’s operations, programs, budget,

In addition, the Head of School is entrusted with maintaining and encouraging the school’s Christian ethos through spiritual leadership of the school. The Head of School will continue the required momentum to achieve the full possibilities of the new “Vision for the Future” Campus and strengthen the school community’s appreciation and understanding of the KICS Way. This leader will nurture and perpetuate KICS’ intentional culture, steward the school and its resources with integrity, and consider the priorities of the school when faced with difficult decisions.
