The Position:
The Director of Advancement is the primary administrator responsible for leading the Advancement Team at Denver Christian, including fundraising, alumni engagement, and donor cultivation. This individual oversees all major giving, capital campaigns, endowment growth, loyalty fund, and donor stewardship efforts.
The Director of Advancement partners closely with the Head of School, the Denver Christian leadership team, and the broader DC community to cultivate a culture of generosity, deepen relationships, and secure the financial resources needed for continued growth and impact. The ideal candidate is a relational self-starter who is eager to strengthen established advancement efforts. In this role, you will steward relationships into the institution and translate the school's mission into measurable financial support.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year advancement strategy aligned with the school's vision and priorities.
- Lead the implementation of the ready-to-launch capital campaign to fund DC’s new high school.
- Partner with the Head of School, Board, and leadership team to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a robust portfolio of major donors.
- Provide direct leadership for and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Advancement and the Advancement Operations Manager.
- Direct the annual Loyalty Fund goal that bridges the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education.
- Oversee alumni engagement initiatives, including homecoming events, and develop the Legacy Society for planned giving.
- Manage corporate sponsorships and signature fundraising events such as the Spring Auction.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications on the Connection magazine and the bi-annual Impact and Gratitude Report.
- Narrate the Denver Christian story effectively to a diverse donor base, including multi-generational families and newer community members.
- Supervise daily advancement operations and data management to ensure strategic institutional growth
Qualifications:
- A mature and vibrant Christian faith that supports a Reformed biblical worldview and active participation in a local church
- Deep alignment with Denver Christian School's mission, vision, values, and six spheres of growth
- Spiritually grounded and emotionally mature servant leader
- 5+ years of advancement experience
- 3+ years of proven ability to cultivate major gifts
- Demonstrated prior experience in a major capital campaign
- Proven ability to strengthen existing structures for long-term outcomes
- Warm relational skills, a “galvanizer”
- Ability to narrate donor stories
- Self-starter, self-aware, and collaborative in leadership
- Willing to “roll up your sleeves” and help wherever needed
