The Position (Contract Role):
We are looking for a tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and tenacious professional with strong PR and communications experience to partner with us. Our ideal candidate is proactive, strategic, and a skilled writer. A passion for the health care space is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage responses to media queries through HARO (Help a Reporter Out) and SOS media query services
- Using Meltwater, track and report on media hits and coverage metrics
- Provide regular client updates on PR activities and outcomes
- Translate complex health care topics for public consumption
- Conduct research on topics of interest and things like speaking/sponsorship/award opportunities
- Prepare detailed memos
- Support strategic communications planning
- Write and edit press releases for health care-related topics
- Develop timely responses to media inquiries
- Create various communications materials as needed, including thought leadership pieces, white papers, and fact sheets
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience with Meltwater, HARO, SOS, or similar media query platforms
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Experience with media monitoring and reporting
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to familiarize self with our clients’ issues, including current state and national policy developments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in PR/communications, preferably in health care
- Experience working with health care organizations, insurers, or policy groups
- Knowledge of state and national health policy landscape
Compensation:
- 5+ hours per week (up to 30)
- Competitive contract rate $50-80/hour, based on experience
